Open Mic Nights

	Open Mic Music and Poetry sessions are
	held weekly at Espresso Garden and Cafe
	and other local cafes in the South Bay
	Area.  This collection of drawings is by 
	local artist, Tony Chang, and is a small
	sample accumulated over June and July of
	2002.  It reflects a variety of 
	performers and music genres, capturing
	each as they soulfully fill a room of 
	live music.
	
	In a constant pursuit of good coffee and
	drawing subjects, Tony started to draw
	those who let him.  Since most are too 
	spooked by the direct stares required of 
	portraiture, Tony found a group of 
	artists at open mic nights  who not only 
	let him look, but continually inspires 
	and energizes his sketches.  Drawing to 
	live music can be resonating.  Each 
	stroke works to the beat of a tune, each 
	portrait filling a page as the music 
	fills the room.
